Let me start this week’s series of blog posts with a bold prediction – The Local Movement is on the precipice of a tipping point, and 2011 may well be The Year of Local.
Having spent the last 5 years working in the cause, I can say with absolute certainty that things are accelerating and growing like they never have before.
While serious and significant challenges remain, this much is clear to me: 2011 will very much be a year about local, and a lot of attention will be spent on small business.
This week is one of the less active on the SLF calendar (though we’re still working hard getting the coming 2010 Coupon Book in stores this January). So with a bit of time on our side (for once), I thought it would be good to do some blogging to recap the year that was 2010 and to look forward to the next year and what it means to SLF, our community and the local movement.
Here’s the schedule of content for this week. If you’d like us to cover/discuss any specific issues, events or questions for this year or 2011, leave ‘em in the comments.
Tuesday – The SLF Year in Review
Wednesday – The Local Movement in 2010
Thursday – Challenges to our Work
Friday – 2011 – The Coming of Local ~ Finding Common Ground & The Year of Action

To create the change we seek, 2011 must be a year of action.... together
