If you are a fan of food, local or otherwise, you’ve probably heard of eatBoston. From their Bacon & Beer Festival, to their recent Guacoholics event, eatBoston has been tearing up the Boston metro food scene for a while (I mean, 10,000 twitter followers can’t be wrong…right?).
On Saturday, August 21st, Union Square will be descended upon by Killer Ice Cream Kones from around the ‘hood (ok, so that’s a Killer Klowns from Outer Space reference that no one will get, which is why I’m explaining it…remember the cotton candy cocoons?). Alright, so not really, though that would be pretty awesome.
What WILL happen for the second year in a row is that hundreds of people will come to Union Square to taste some of the best ice cream that the area has to offer, including offerings from Chilly Cow Custard, JP Licks, Christina’s, Toscanini’s, Picco, and b.good.
For just $8, you can taste your way through the goodness…and we’re happy to say it supports some great causes, including us! A large portion of the proceeds from the event will go to a collection of community nonprofits, which is just how Aaron from eatBoston rolls.
I met Aaron months ago when Bacon & Beer was still just a concept. We got together at Bloc 11 to share what I learned from Harvest Fest 2009. I have to say, he’s one of the most clever marketers I’ve run into, and I run into a lot of them.
For example, take this exchange about the “Mega Baller Ticket” that is available for the showdown:
Aaron: Absolutely not
And yet, they will almost assuredly sell out. There are only 10 available, and after all, who wouldn’t want to be a Mega Baller? (FWIW – Aaron also helped us come up with the Supporter/Super Supporter ticket idea for Harvest Fest).
So there it is. Hit up Union Square on a Saturday, eat some of the area’s best ice cream, support local charities. Pretty hard to lose in that situation, especially for just $8 ($16 for the Mega Baller’s of the world). And maybe wel’ll even see some good ol’ ice cream carnage:
Aaron: We all would.
Sounds right to me…
